Very insensitive. Shocking at times. There are good points, but no continuity. Appointments and cuing are dreadful, but have improved. An increase in telephone appointments are no good. People need to see a GP. The continuous time limit reminder is hideous. But also appreciate the strain on the NHS. But actually spending proper time would eventually save time. Potentially save lives and see to patients properly.

The booking appointments system is appalling you have to phone in on the morning at 8.15 and by 8.19 there are no appointments Even worse now that Sydenham Rd has merged with Sydenham Green

What was once annoys tanning surgery has become a complete mess. The appointment system is heavily weighted in favour of the surgery and against the patients,' best interests. Very few appointments available on line and those that are tend to be for junior or stand in doctors. It is virtually impossible to get to see either of the surgery's two best doctors, Dr Benard and Dr Morel via online. All other appointments have to be made by going to the surgery in person and the queue starts outside in all weathers around 7am. A few minutes before 8am the doors are finally opened and then we queue inside for the receptionists to log onto their computers, finish gossiping and making the tea etc. If you are not in the first dozen in line, that's it; the days available appointments have gone and you have to come back and try again next door. Telephoning when the lines open at 8am in fruitless; all you get is the engaged signal. By the time you do get through it is after 9am and all the appointments have gone. Reception and telephone staff are notoriously rude and unhelpful. Getting to see your regular GP is almost impossible, which means no continuity of care. This surgery urgently needs to start operating with more consideration for the patients. It is not being well managed and the patients seem to be regarded as an inconvenience by the staff. No complaint about the doctors, who seem to be doing their best but are beleaguered. I have been a patient here since day one and was a patient of the original surgery, the Fisher Group. Now though I am seriously considering changing to another practice, which will be a shame as Dr Benard is without doubt the best GP I have ever had.

I have always found the doctors at the surgery to be good to excellent and I have confidence in their judgement. I am less happy with the mechanism for securing a face-to-face appointment which entail either having to wait for at least a week or, for an immediate appointment, queueing at the surgery at 8am on the day to get seen later or trying to book one on the phone which, hardly surprisingly, is constantly engaged between 8 and 9 and, when one does get through, there are no appointments left. This arrangement is entirely impractical but is probably the result of the pressure GPs are under in general than a fault of this particular surgery. Telephone appointments are usually swiftly actioned and reliable but, obviously, they are not ideal for all circumstances and are no substitute for a face-to-face meeting. I find the reception staff to be of variable quality and helpfulness and have sometimes been given the wrong information.

This surgery operates a ridiculous system: very few appointments available online, and those that are, are heavily weighted towards part-time or inexperienced GPs. As for making telephone appointments, forget it. They won't allow you to book ahead. You either have to report at the surgery by 8am to see if there are any appointments that day (which means being there by 7.30am and queuing outside in the cold until they open the doors at 8; this is not a good idea if you're ill.) OR, you can telephone when lines open at 8am for a same-day appointment. The lines are always busy, and it is not uncommon to hang on for an hour, by which time that day's appointments have gone. This system may be convenient for the surgery, but it is insensitive to their patients' needs.
